How To Shut Off Wireless Capabilities On Wireless Printers

Wireless Printers are not allowed to broadcast wireless signals on campus due to the interference they cause with APUWIFI. Because Wireless Printers are becoming more and more common, it is important to know how to turn the wireless capabilities off on your wireless printer. Each printer will vary slightly in the method needed to disable the wireless capabilities, but generally printers fall into one of the two following categories:

Physical Button

The first method of disabling wireless capabilities is to attempt to look for a physical wireless button on the printer.

Network Settings

If there does not appear to be a physical wireless button on the printer, it's possible that it is controlled by a software setting. Try to go to "Settings" or "Configure" and look for "Network Settings" or "Network Setup" folders. One of these folders should have the option to disable wireless capabilities.

We understand that there may be some confusion on how to disable the wireless function on your particular device, and we are willing to work with you to make the best APUWIFI experience possible for all students.  If you need assistance verifying that this feature is disabled, please call the IT Support Center at 626-815-5050 or email us at [email protected]
