Changing Your Local Computer Password

Newer APU macOS devices are currently set up to use a local username and password to provide a better experience for users. One of the downsides is that it's a unique password, that is separate from your APU NetID. APU community members may get alerts that their password is about to expire for JAMF enrolled computers (all computers on macOS 10.12 or later, or 2017 models or later should be JAMF enrolled devices) and display a message prompting them to change their password.

To change your local password:

  • Open System Preferences

  • Click on "Security & Privacy"

  • Click the "Change Password" button.

  • Enter your current password and then your new password.

That's it! You're done!
