Windows (PC) Instructions:
Installation

Download Filemaker Pro 21 for Windows (PC)

Go to your Downloads folder and open the Filemaker Pro Windows PC zip file

Double-click the fmp_21.0.2.200.x64 file and select Extract
-
A new Filemaker Pro Windows PC folder has been created. There are two files inside the folder, double-click fmp_21.0.2.20_x64 to begin the installation process

Choose Setup Language: Click English
-
Visual Studio C++ libraries...: Click Next
-
Welcome to FileMaker Pro 64-bit Setup Wizard: Click Next
-
Customer Information: Tick the radio button next to License Certificate and click Browse for Certificate
-
Navigate to your Downloads folder > Filemaker Pro Windows PC folder > LicenseCert and then click Open
-
Install this application for: Tick Anyone who uses this computer

Destination Folder: Click Next
-
Choose Setup Type: Select Complete
-
Application Shortcuts: Click Next
-
Ready to Install FileMaker Pro: Click Install
-
FileMaker Pro Setup Wizard Completed: click Finish

-
Install Apple's Bonjour for Window: Click Next
-
Welcome to the Bonjour Installer: Click Next
-
License Agreement: Tick the box next to "I accept the terms...": and then Click Next
-
Please read the following information: Click Install

Congratulations: Click Finish

Open FileMaker Pro from your Desktop or search for it through the Windows Search at the bottom of your taskbar

You may see a Windows Defender message about blocking features of this app. Tick the box net to: Domain networks such as a workplace network and click Allow access

Accept the terms of the Claris FileMaker Pro software license by ticking the box next to "I accept the terms in the software license." and the click Accept
-
If you FileMaker says this is trial software, Click Enter Licence, go to Downloads > FileMaker Mac > LicenseCert.fmcert
Connect to your FileMaker Database

From the FileMaker Pro Home screen click on Favorites, then Add App, then select From Hosts…

Please ignore and close the "Now available: Claris FileMaker Pro 21.0.2." message

Click the + next to the "Search Hosts" box. Next type: filemaker.apu.edu into "Hosts Internet Address" field

If you get a message asking to verify the identity of “filemaker.apu.edu:5003”, tick the box next to “Always permit connection to this host” and then click Connect

If you get a message telling you "filemaker.apu.edu:5003 is not encrypted", tick the box to “Always permit connection to this host” and then click Connect

You may get a screen asking you to sign in. If so, use your APU NetID and password

Search for your FileMaker database file and double-click it to add it as a Favorite
-
Finally double-click your FileMaker database file to open it
MAC Instructions:
Installation
- Download Filemaker Pro 21 for Mac
- Go to your Downloads folder and double-click the FileMaker Pro Mac.zip file
- Open the new FileMaker Mac folder in your Downloads and double-click fmp_21.0.2.200.dmg
- Click and drag the FileMaker app icon to the Applications folder icon.
Connect to your FileMaker Database
- After the installation is complete open FileMaker Pro from your Applications folder
- If you see this message: "FileMaker Pro" is an app downloaded from the internet...": Click Open
- If you FileMaker says this is trial software, Click Enter Licence, go to Downloads > FileMaker Mac > LicenseCert.fmcert
- From the FileMaker Pro Home screen click on Favorites, then Add App, then select From Hosts…
- Please ignore and close the "Now available: Claris FileMaker Pro 21.0.2." message
- Click the + next to the "Search Hosts" box. Next type filemaker.apu.edu into "Hosts Internet Address" field

- Sign in to view databases hosted by FileMaker Server: Use your APU NetID and password

- Finally double-click your FileMaker database file to open it.
