Key features and uses:
- Plagiarism and AI Detection: The tool helps instructors scan student documents and submitted content to identify potential plagiarism and detect if the content was generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
- Manual Upload and Scanning: It allows teachers to manually upload individual student assignments, discussion posts, or any other content that needs scanning, such as those submitted via email or outside of a designated learning management system (LMS) assignment.
- Alternative to Assignment-Based Scanning: This tool provides an alternative to creating specific assignments within the LMS for Copyleaks scanning, offering flexibility for situations like late submissions or specific requests.
- Contribute to Database: Teachers can use it to upload their own course materials or examples to the Copyleaks database, which then can be used for future comparison scans to help identify matches with newly submitted content.
- Detailed Reports: The tool provides detailed reports, including an originality score, identified matched sources, and highlighted text for review.
- Click on the + button:
- From the Add dropdown menu choose External Tool:
- Click on the Copyleaks Tool:
- The tool will load in a window, after it has completed loading it will close automatically:
- If done correctly the URL and Page Name input fields will be filled:
- Click on the Add Item button:
- The tool should now be added to your course. Click on the tool to open it:
- Finally, the tool will open up in a new window and be ready to use!
From here, you can copy the Scan Tool over to other courses in Canvas. The scan tool's individual data will not copy over, it will be a new scan tool if copied over. For more information on using the tool see our page here.
