Transition from Faculty/Staff Account to Student Account
While APU students are entitled to their APU accounts for life, IT permanently locks employee accounts once they leave the University. If an employee who is or was previously a student leaves the University, they can retain their account.
Typically, our Engineering team will reach out to the personal email you have listed with the school with new details and a password reset email on the final day of employment.
What you will have access to:
- Home Portal (home.apu.edu): This should look like your student portal
- Google Drive (drive.google.com): All files will be deleted, but can get transferred over if needed. Please transfer all personal or student files into a single folder.
- Canvas (canvas.apu.edu) will remain the same, but will be unavailable for up to an hour after it syncs on an independent schedule.
- Gmail (mail.apu.edu): You will receive a new, student email address, and your old emails will not transfer over.
